Cornerstone General Contractors Establishes Director of People & Culture Role
Anchorage, Alaska – As part of Cornerstone General Contractors’ commitment to building a resilient and people-focused organization, the company established the Director of People & Culture role nearly a year ago. This strategic position, uncommon in the construction industry, was created to extend beyond traditional boundaries of human resources to embed culture and provide leadership development and organizational performance into the core of Cornerstone’s operations.
This role is designed to shape the company’s long-term growth by fostering a high-performing, value-driven culture rather than focusing solely on HR compliance and administration. It supports all aspects of the employee experience—from onboarding and engagement to development and retention—ensuring all employees feel connected to the company’s mission and empowered in their role.
Key accomplishments to date include:
- A restructured recruitment strategy designed to attract and retain high-quality talent.
- Implementation of monthly and quarterly performance reviews to ensure clarity, accountability, and career progression.
- The launch of a structured employee development program that supports skill-building and leadership growth.
