Cornerstone Receives CHASE Flag Designation—First in the State
Anchorage, AK [July 3, 2025] — At Cornerstone General Contractors, safety isn’t just a slogan—it’s how we operate, every day, on every site. That commitment just made history. Cornerstone is the first construction company in Alaska to receive the prestigious CHASE Flag Award, the highest level of recognition in Alaska’s Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) Program.
The CHASE Flag was presented last month during Cornerstone’s annual employee BBQ, a well deserved celebration for the teams whose hard work and dedication made this possible.
A Big Deal for Alaska’s Construction Industry
The CHASE Program, unique to Alaska, is a partnership between the state’s construction industry
and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s (DOLWD) Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH) Consultation and Training team. It recognizes employers who go above and beyond to reduce jobsite hazards and build a culture of safety.
In an official letter from the State of Alaska, Commissioner’s Office representatives congratulated Cornerstone for setting the bar for jobsite safety, writing:
“Your CHASE Flag approval shows the strength of your commitment to having a safe and healthy workplace. Your ongoing work to improve your safety and health program demonstrates this commitment and sets a role model for others. We encourage you to share what you’ve learned to assist other employers in growing their safety culture.”
It Takes a Team and the Right Partners
Earning CHASE Flag status didn’t happen overnight. It took relentless effort, buy-in at every level, and strategic partnerships including SafeLogic, whose expertise played a key role in helping Cornerstone strengthen safety systems and drive continuous improvement.
“This recognition isn’t just about us, it’s about everyone on our jobsites, every partner who’s helped us improve, and a shared belief that safety is non-negotiable,” said Joe Jolley, Cornerstone President. “The CHASE Flag is the gold standard in Alaska, and being the first to achieve it shows what’s possible when your team refuses to cut corners.”
What’s Next?
As part of ongoing CHASE participation, Cornerstone will continue collaborating with the State of Alaska to share best practices, track safety metrics, and raise the standard for the entire construction industry.
